Practical Google Sites experience. Professional website rebuilds.
Hello, and welcome to SafeSwitch.
I'm an independent website designer and developer specialising in Google Sites. I started SafeSwitch to help businesses move away from complicated or expensive website platforms and onto a simpler way of managing their online presence.
My work focuses on one thing: making Google Sites work harder as a platform for professional business websites.
I don't believe every business needs a complicated website with endless features, plugins and ongoing technical management. For many businesses, a well-designed website that clearly explains what they offer and makes it easy for customers to get in touch is all they need.
That's where Google Sites can be a good fit.
My experience with Google Sites goes beyond rebuilding existing websites. I use the platform across several projects, exploring its design possibilities, developing templates and finding practical ways to get more from its features.
Some of these projects include:
GoogleSites.Dev
A resource dedicated to Google Sites, demonstrating our wider involvement with the platform and its capabilities. The premier Google Sites engineers.https://www.googlesites.devI Make Templates
We also create Google Sites templates, putting our knowledge of the platform into practical website designs and layouts.https://www.imaketemplates.comStride Templates
Ready-made Google Sites business websites, designed for small businesses and independent professionals.https://www.stridetemplate.comWordPress to Google Sites
Popular WordPress themes recreated as Google Sites templates, demonstrating what's possible when adapting designs to a different platform.https://www.wp2gs.comThese projects give me practical experience of the platform from different angles: website design, development, templates, content and functionality. It's allowed me to learn how and why small businesses use their website.
I recognised that many businesses were paying ongoing website subscriptions and dealing with technical tasks that they didn't necessarily need.
WordPress can require hosting, software updates, themes and plugins. Website builders such as Wix and Squarespace offer convenient tools, but their subscriptions can become a regular business expense.
For some businesses, a simpler alternative makes sense.
Google Sites provides a straightforward way to publish and manage a website without a separate recurring website hosting subscription. It won't suit every business or every website, but where its features are sufficient, it can offer a practical alternative.
SafeSwitch brings together my experience of Google Sites with a professional, done-for-you website rebuilding service.
I don't treat website migration as a simple copy-and-paste exercise. Every existing website is different, and the right approach depends on its design, content, page structure and functionality.
My process is straightforward:
Understand your existing website. I review its pages, design, content and features before recommending a rebuild.
Agree what can be recreated. I'll explain what can be retained, what needs adapting and where Google Sites has limitations.
Rebuild your website. I recreate the agreed pages using your existing branding and content as the starting point.
Prepare it for launch. I check the new website, its navigation, links and agreed domain arrangements before handover.
I'm also upfront about the things that need careful consideration, including website functionality, URL changes and SEO. I won't promise that every feature can be transferred or that search rankings will remain unchanged.
SafeSwitch is a personal service. You'll be dealing directly with the person reviewing and rebuilding your website, rather than being passed between different departments. The migration is charged as a one-off project with an agreed scope and price. There is no separate recurring SafeSwitch hosting or migration subscription.
Google Sites does not charge a separate recurring hosting subscription, although your domain registration, Google Workspace, email and other third-party services may still have costs. My aim is to leave you with a professional website that you can manage yourself, without making the process more complicated than it needs to be.
It depends on what you need your website to do.
Google Sites can work well for business websites that focus on presenting services, sharing information and helping customers make contact. It has limitations when it comes to more advanced ecommerce, bookings, membership features and specialist functionality.
If I don't think Google Sites is suitable for your requirements, I'll explain why. I'd rather help you make the right decision than recommend a migration that isn't a good fit.
If you're considering moving your existing website to Google Sites, I'd be happy to take a look. There's no obligation, it's free.
Tell me a little about your current website and what you'd like to achieve. I'll review it and let you know whether a SafeSwitch migration is likely to be suitable.
